Home is where cultures meet.
Designed for a young German and Korean-American couple living in Berlin, this 180-square-metre penthouse overlooking the rooftops of Prenzlauer Berg explores the meeting point between Scandinavian warmth and Japanese restraint. Rather than following the conventions of Japandi design, the project reinterprets its principles to create a home shaped by everyday life, where colour, craftsmanship and bespoke design come together in a calm, generous and deeply personal interior.
Inspired by Japandi aesthetics, natural materials, soft textures and carefully curated colours create a serene atmosphere. As in every BÄM Studio project, colour is used as an architectural tool rather than a decorative statement, bringing warmth, depth and identity to each space while preserving the apartment's light-filled openness.
At the heart of the home, a bespoke kitchen and integrated dining banquette, create a natural gathering place. Conceived as the social centre of the apartment, they encourage slow mornings, shared meals and the everyday moments that bring people together.
The result is a timeless interior, a home that reflects its owners' multicultural identity while celebrating a way of living rooted in beauty, comfort and connection.
